Eating disorders are serious illnesses affecting sufferers emotionally, physically, and socially. Relationships are often strained or damaged. Eating disorders affect BOTH females and males. It is highly recommended to seek professional help.
Seeking help for an eating disorder as a way to achieve greater personal self-growth, health, and happiness is a very positive thing to do and is admirable.
Obsessions with food, weight, appearance and exercise are increasingly common in boys and men in today's society.
Traditionally, males with eating disorders have been underrepresented, but N.A.M.E.D. is changing this by offering support to and information and resources about males with eating disorders.
